With a simple declaration, Christ rebuked a stormy sea.
It’s not a question of whether Christ can end all the turmoil we face. He can. He will. Christ holds the keys to life or death.
And God declared the “end” from the “beginning,” as He is not subject to the constraints of time.
What is lost on most, however, is that Christ decided to bring about the “end” through His Body.
You. Me. Us.
The Body of Christ.
But we aren’t alone. The Holy Spirit is the real power, and innervates all that is good in the Body. The Spirit leads, refines (at times rebukes), and empowers the Church of Christ.
This explains how God can both be “sovereign” and yet “not in control” when people exercising their free will, choose to disobey Him. That’s what makes love so precious. It can be withheld, even towards our Creator.
In other words, God is not culpable when the world is upside down and without justice.
We are.
God does not desire abortion, crooked elections, the usurpation of government, or any sin.
Yet all these things exists. So, let’s not conflate the generic expression of “God is in control” with “God’s sovereignty.”
God is sovereign, and through His sovereignty, he chose to delegate a level of control to believers to exercise powerful authority to rebuke Satan, demons, and all forms of corruption. To fight against evil until Christ returns.
We remember how Christ entered the world and changed everything.
Through Him, we are conquerors.
